Day 1

Thursday, June 15.

Benvenuti in Puglia – Welcome to Puglia!

Our driver will pick you up from the Brindisi airport and take you to Masseria Giovanni, nestled in Martano, a griko – Greek village of Salento. On the way, you will feast your eyes on thousands of olive trees. 7:00 PM Orientation aperitivo pugliese – cocktail hour Salento style. We will share information about the extraordinary Puglia lifestyle, cucina povera – farm to table cuisine, and give an overview of our tour, an orientation of our Masseria, and then enjoy a beautiful welcome dinner.

Day 2

Friday, June 16.

Otranto and Castro – Il Fascino del Sud - Otranto and Castro – Charms of the South

Morning Yoga session by the pool (optional).

Excursion – We visit the charming coastal village of Otranto with stunning sea views and a memorable tour of the Tree of Life Mosaic (Albero della Vita) dating from 1165 AD. We enjoy a bountiful lunch in Otranto with free time for shopping or beach time. In the afternoon, we sip a coffee in a café with a sea view in the charming little town of Castro, a gem of the south of Salento where many locals spend their summer vacations. We return to the Masseria for a fun Pasta cooking class and dinner.

Day 3

Saturday, June 17.

Gallipoli, Galatina – centri storici mediterranei – Mediterranean Town Centers

Morning Yoga session by the pool (optional).

Excursion: Guided tour of elegant Galatina with its centro storico – town center, Taranta stories and learn more about the stunning Basilica di Santa Caterina. From Galatina we will visit Gallipoli on the Ionian Sea, a true fishermen town (Kale’polis using the original Greek word for beautiful town). Lunch is served by sea in Gallipoli. Wonderful views and fresh caught fish are a delight for your senses. On the way back to the Masseria we stop for a wine tasting followed by a buonisima cena – delicious dinner at the Masseria.

Day 4

Sunday, June 18.

Lecce, Capitale del Barocco, bella e sofisticata - The Baroque Capital of the south, beautiful and sophisticated

We check out of the Masseria Giovanni and take a short passeggiata – stroll in Martano. From there we will drive to Lecce and check in to the beautiful Hotel S. Chiara. Discover Lecce’s splendor with a guided tour and brunch in a lovely enoteca – wine bar – in the heart of historic Lecce known as the Florence of the South. In the afternoon you can choose among different options: a massage in the privacy of your Hotel Room, or a horseback ride through the countryside and on to the beach, or a bike ride in the outskirts of Lecce, or free time. Dinner is in the historic town of Lecce.

Day 5

Monday, June 19.

I paesini Bianchi Safari Fotografico and Brindisi – Val d’tria – Itria Valley and Brindisi A Photographer’s Dream

Excursion: Explore the uniqueness of the white washed stone villages of Ostuni and Cisternino and then on to Brindisi by the sea. The narrow cobbled streets and charming towns of Ostuni and Cisternino with their outstanding vistas will inspire you to take lots of photos. Lunch will be in Cisternino, considered as one of the most beautiful borghi - villages of Italy. We will have a feast of a lunch at a restaurant whose chef was awarded Best Chef in Italy! Following our lunch we drive to Brindisi for a Passeggiata – a stroll along the waterfront and a guided tour of Brindisi. Be prepared to be awed by frescoes from the 9th-12th centuries! Dinner is in Lecce.

Day 6

Tuesday, June 20.

I trulli di Alberobello e la romantica Polignano a Mare – The trulli of Alberobello and a Stroll along the Adriatic Sea in the romantic Polignano del Mare

Excursion: Today we visit two iconic fairytale places in Puglia: Alberobello dotted with dome shaped trulli and the inspiring Polignano a Mare. Lunch will be in Alberobello where you will also have free time for your souvenir shopping. In the afternoon, we take our cameras and have a passeggiata – stroll along the seaside in Polignano a Mare. Return to Lecce for Dinner.

Day 7

Wednesday, June 21.

Food tour and cooking class with Cooks in Puglia

Enjoy a fun tour at the food market in Lecce right before having your cooking lesson with the mums of “Cooks in Puglia” at the Puglia Wine and Cooking School in the charming village of Squinzano. It’s food, wine and a festive day cooking together. You have a free afternoon to chill out in Lecce, shop and explore. Dinner is in the historic town of Lecce.

Day 8

Thursday, June 22.

Giornata di riposo oppure Gita in Barca - Select how you want to spend a relaxing day...

Option A.Take your time to enjoy Lecce as a local.

Option B. Book a sailboat tour with lunch on board for an extra cost (minimum 4 people)

Dinner in Lecce with a restaurant of your choice.

Day 9

Friday, June 23.

Vino Olio e Pizzica tra gli Ulivi – Wine, Olive Oil, and Dance

Puglia, and Salento in particular, is well-known for its exquisite wines. Wine lovers from all over the world come to sample the Negroamaro and Primitivo wines. We will tour a premium Winery, taste and get to know more about the indigenous wine productions. After the fabulous wine tasting, we experience the King of the Pugliese Culture, namely Olive Oil. We drive to a beautiful olive grove where we take part in an olive oil tasting followed by a picnic amidst the hundred year old olive trees and experience cucina povera - tables piled high with local delights. To complete this wonderful afternoon, we enjoy a demonstration of the Pizzica dance having the olive grove, kissed by the warm Salento weather, as the backdrop. You have free time in Lecce for more exploring and/or shopping and then our farewell dinner at the famous Pizzeria.

Day 10

Saturday, June 24.

Arrivederci Puglia bella - Farewell to Beautiful Puglia

Breakfast and transfer to Brindisi airport.
